{"id":1931,"date":"2012-07-25T11:23:17","date_gmt":"2012-07-25T16:23:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midamericafreight.org\/?p=1931"},"modified":"2012-07-25T11:23:17","modified_gmt":"2012-07-25T16:23:17","slug":"mafc-extended-through-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wwwtest.midamericafreight.org\/index.php\/2012\/07\/25\/mafc-extended-through-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"MAFC extended through 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the recent meeting of the Mid-America Association of State Transportation Officials (MAASTO), the Executive Committee of the Mid-America Freight Coalition authorized the Coalition for an additional three years, through 2015.<br \/>\nDuring these three years, the Mid-America Freight Coalition will focus on aligning it\u2019s research programs and its regional freight study, currently underway, with the recently enacted Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) surface transportation bill.<br \/>\n\u201cWith the passing of MAP-21 into law, the emphasis on freight will only increase,\u201d said MAFC Program Manager Ernie Perry. \u201cThe history of collaboration in our region and the current efforts across the Mid-America states positions them well for moving forward in the world economy.\u201d<br \/>\nThe Mid-America Freight Coalition will also expand its outreach efforts to include the chief engineers from the ten state departments of transportation in order to collaborate with them on innovative freight practices, trends, and policy options.<br \/>\nThe ten member states each contribute $25,000 per year to the Coalition\u2019s pooled fund; the National Center for Freight and Infrastructure Research and Development (<a href=\"http:\/\/cfire.wistrans.org\">CFIRE<\/a>) provides $250,000 per year.
