{"id":2298,"date":"2013-06-28T08:35:12","date_gmt":"2013-06-28T13:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midamericafreight.org\/?p=2298"},"modified":"2013-06-28T08:35:12","modified_gmt":"2013-06-28T13:35:12","slug":"us-31-indiana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wwwtest.midamericafreight.org\/index.php\/2013\/06\/28\/us-31-indiana\/","title":{"rendered":"Increased Federal Funding for Indiana Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Indiana received an increase in federal freight funding for a critical freight project, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dot.gov\/briefing-room\/us-transportation-secretary-lahood-approves-increased-federal-share-upgrade-us-31\">US 31 Hamilton County Improvement Project<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today approved increasing the federally-funded share for the U.S. 31 Hamilton County Improvement Project in Indiana to 90 percent.\u00a0 The 90 percent match represents about a $23 million increase over the original 80 percent match.\u00a0 The project is the first to benefit from a new provision in surface transportation legislation, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21), that gives the Secretary discretion to raise the allowable federal match on eligible critical freight projects.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For more information, consult the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dot.gov\/briefing-room\/us-transportation-secretary-lahood-approves-increased-federal-share-upgrade-us-31\">full press release<\/a>.<br \/>\nThe Indiana DOT also developed a <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwtest.midamericafreight.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/InDOT_RequestIncreasedFederalParticipationFreightProject.pdf\">project template<\/a> to help demonstrate that a freight project is eligible for increased federal funding under the provisions of MAP-21.
